RETN adds Medloop subsea route for resilient connectivity

RETN, a leading global network provider, has integrated spectrum services from the new Medloop Cable System, establishing a vital subsea route between Marseille and Milan.

The strategic addition, alongside a spectrum upgrade on the Marseille-Paris link, boosts RETN’s network diversity, capacity and resilience.

The Medloop Cable System, managed by Sipartech, offers a low-latency, high-capacity connection from Marseille to Genoa and Barcelona, providing an alternative to traditional European routes. The integration reduces reliance on congested transit points, enhancing redundancy in Southern Europe and strengthening RETN’s ability to ensure uninterrupted connectivity across the continent.

The move also addresses growing demand for diverse routing options, bolstering critical infrastructure resilience.

“Southern Europe’s connectivity landscape is evolving rapidly, and RETN is committed to enabling secure, high-performance and truly diverse network options,” said Milko Ilari, Head of Southern Europe at RETN.

“By integrating the Medloop Cable System, we are extending our end-to-end resilience strategy – eliminating single points of failure and ensuring direct, high-capacity paths from Milan to Amsterdam, London, Madrid and other key destinations. This is part of our broader vision to decentralise traffic flows and provide enterprise and wholesale customers with best-in-class reliability.”

RETN is one of the fastest growing independent Eurasian network services providers, awarded the title of Innovation Disruptor of the Year, at the prestigious Global Connectivity Awards 2024.
