Accelsius, a leader in direct-to-chip liquid cooling, has placed its NeuCool Thermal Simulation Rack at Computacenter’s UK headquarters in Hatfield.
The move will enable European partners and customers to view, test and deploy Accelsius’s rack-level cooling solutions.
Founded in 2022 by Innventure, a technology commercialisation company, Accelsius has developed and commercialised its liquid cooling system based on thermal research from Bell Labs. The NeuCool solution directly addresses the growing thermal management challenges through an innovative two-phase, direct-to-chip liquid cooling approach.
The alliance with Computacenter UK comes at a critical juncture for the data centre industry, which is grappling with the growing challenge of effectively managing the escalating heat densities generated by contemporary high-performance computing infrastructure.
Liquid cooling is becoming crucial for maintaining equipment efficiency, preventing downtime and ensuring optimal performance in densely packed environments.
Data centres under increasing pressure with AI uptake
The growing demand for compute-intensive workloads, particularly in AI and Machine Learning, is a major driver for liquid cooling adoption.
Compared to air cooling, liquid offers better energy efficiency, leading to lower costs. It also maintains optimal operating temperatures, boosting performance and extending equipment lifespan. The solution also enables higher server densities, saves space, reduces noise and is essential for supporting advanced technologies.
Sustainable solutions
Cooling can account for a significant portion (up to 40%) of a data centre’s total energy consumption. Liquid cooling, especially direct-to-chip methods, reduce the need for energy-intensive fans and air conditioning systems to cool the entire room. Some studies suggest liquid cooling can be 30-90% more efficient than air cooling. Additionally, it offers the potential for heat reuse, further enhancing sustainability goals.
Encouraging scale
The partnership will also help Accelsius to scale its European operations as the Computercenter’s automation and warehousing capabilities will speed up the integration and deployment of Accelsius’s liquid cooling solution for customers requiring advanced thermal management.
“As demand for AI and high-density computing accelerates, it’s critical that we provide partners with accessible, scalable solutions,” said Josh Claman, CEO of Accelsius. “Having our demonstration rack in Computacenter’s HyperScale Integration Center is a significant milestone in our European expansion, making it easier for enterprises to experience NeuCool firsthand and deploy with confidence.”
Dan Thompson, Director of Data Center & Hybrid at Computacenter, said: “As a key partner to large corporate, public sector and global service providers that provide some of the world’s most critical and high-performance platforms, Computacenter is at the forefront of supporting our customers to sustainably deliver workloads at scale.
“Our partnership with Accelsius gives customers in the UK and across Europe the opportunity to see firsthand how liquid cooling can support their performance and sustainability objectives. This is part of our commitment to invest in our already world-leading integration centre capability to ensure we continue to support the growing demands of AI and high-performance infrastructure.”
