Hyperconverged infrastructure solutions

Hyperconverged infrastructure solutions

As remote work becomes the new, smarter normal, businesses
need to adapt their hybrid cloud strategy and modernise their
data centre infrastructure. Dr Christopher Cooper – DCG Director,
Lenovo MEA, tells Intelligent CIO Middle East, how Lenovo is
delivering supreme hyperconverged infrastructure solutions that
best fit an organisation’s IT strategy.

Lenovo is addressing the hybrid cloud strategy and modernisation of enterprise data centre infrastructure by delivering an unparalleled, open platform of hyperconverged infrastructure solutions in partnership with Nutanix, Microsoft and VMWare.

Hyperconverged infrastructure solutions are uniquely suited to provide virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), supporting the need for people to work remotely across many industries such as education and healthcare. Lenovo is focused on ready-to-deploy HCI solutions in partnership with industry-leading hybrid cloud software providers, which enable customers to deploy and manage a full cloud and edge-to-cloud environments with simpler updates, easy scalability and a consumption-based delivery model.

Every organisation’s cloud journey is different – with its own balance of security, scalability and agility requirements and in the world of private, public and hosted clouds, things move fast. What’s smart today is outdated tomorrow. That’s why we’re here, to help customers find the smarter approach. Lenovo’s experience with cloud transformation is comprised of helping customers develop a robust cloud strategy, selecting the right technology powered by Intel, choosing vendors, and assisting with the deployment of infrastructure and on-going management of resources. With our complete portfolio of cloud infrastructure and services, we will thoughtfully guide you to the right solution for each workload and for your business. We are also well poised to address the growing shift and importance of Edge to cloud, something many are grappling with, but we have the benefit of already delivering turnkey solutions in this space. If you are looking for guidance on how to quickly and efficiently move towards a cloud transformed future, I’d encourage you to contact us and speak with a cloud expert about how to stay on the right path on your cloud journey.

There’s no magic switch that migrates your organisation and applications to the cloud. It can take some groundwork, patience and a personalised cloud strategy, one that identifies their performance needs, gaps and compliance requirements from the start and points you to the right hardware infrastructure for now and the future. Most importantly, a solution-agnostic cloud partner should accommodate your ecosystem, not the other way around.

Again it is also important to understand the growing need for Edge to cloud too, particularly as there are vast new volumes of data that are being generated and processed at the Edge and this is forecasted to continue to grow significantly over the coming years.

In terms of investments, the ability to deliver cloud-based technology solutions as a service has made it possible to turn IT operations into an operational expense (OPEX) removing the need for any substantial upfront investments and replacing them with predictable monthly fees. Moreover, the OPEX structure doesn’t just allow for predictable expenses, but also provides the capacity to scale up to meet current demand to support an organisation’s growth plans.

A key concern we see among our customers is data sovereignty. With most of the cloud service providers being located outside the UAE, CIOs have been facing a dilemma of storing company data while abiding with the nation’s strict data residency laws. Therefore, the establishment from different cloud providers, whom have opened data centres within the UAE’s boarders presents companies with an opportunity to use these facilities to scale up their operations without having to store data outside the UAE.

With the support of our ISV partners, Lenovo continues to deliver to its customers the most innovative data centre solutions through our ThinkAgile portfolio as we are able to deliver a complete cloud stack as well as other cloud infrastructure solutions jointly with Microsoft, VMware and Nutanix. This agnostic approach allows our customers to choose the solution that best fits their company’s IT strategy.
