ITEC Group signs deal to deliver IT services for Bristol Sport

Managed technology provider ITEC Group has signed a three and a half year deal with Bristol Sport to deliver a complete IT service across sports facilities in and around the city

ITEC Group, a managed technology provider, has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Bristol Sport to deliver a complete IT service across sports facilities in and around the city.

As the official IT partner, ITEC Group will be managing the IT infrastructure and providing specialist match-day support to keep all stadium systems such as tills, lighting and computers operating smoothly. This will involve setting up a dedicated onsite IT help-desk, as well as providing a fully managed remote monitoring and maintenance service. Additionally, ITEC Group will provide consultancy on the redevelopment of Bristol Sport’s existing IT network and roll-outs at the various new sites.

Bristol Sport was set up by Stephen Lansdown, co-founder of financial services firm Hargreaves Lansdown, to manage the commercial interests of his group of sports which include Bristol City FC, Bristol Bears Rugby and Bristol Flyers Basketball teams.

With an array of major projects in the pipeline, including a technology overhaul of its newly refurbished stadium; the construction of a 4,000-capacity Sports and Convention Centre (SCC) next to the stadium and new training ground facilities, Bristol Sport sought a single technology partner that could deliver an integrated and streamlined approach to IT.

ITEC Group, also headquartered in Bristol with offices nationwide, was selected through a tender process. To support the scale and significance of the various planned technology projects, two Bristol Sport IT staff members have been transferred to the ITEC Group under a TUPE agreement.

Commenting on the partnership, Nick Orme, CEO at ITEC Group, said: “The entire company is celebrating this contract. We’re so proud to have been chosen to support such an iconic Bristol success story and the fact that there are a lot of Bristol City and Bears fans in the ITEC office doesn’t hurt either.

“The breadth and depth of IT projects that will take place over the coming years at Bristol Sport are really exciting; we’re looking forward to adding tangible value with our integrated approach and focusing on delivering a robust and reliable IT infrastructure so that Bristol Sport can get on with its impressive core mission.”

Bristol Sport Chairman, Jon Lansdown, said: “Following the rebuild of the stadium and the number of planned projects for our group we needed an IT partner that would not only enable that but actively help us enhance it.

“ITEC Group impressed throughout the tender process and we look forward to reaping the rewards that this engagement will bring in fully modernising the IT infrastructure of our sporting group.”
